Decatur Key Club
Making a difference in our community, every day.
What is Key Club?

Key Club is an after-school community service club at Stephen Decatur High School.
Throughout the year, we host various events and fundraisers. We're always looking for new members. This site is our springboard--it includes info on upcoming events, photos, press releases, and more. Check out upcoming events, our FAQ section, recent photos, or get in touch! We also have an RSS feed.

Reminders

Upcoming Events!

Remember that as a member of Key Club you are required to have atleast ten hours of service a semester for the club. Here are some of the upcoming events in which you can participate:

  • Bell ringing for the Salvation Army on the weekend at Walmart. There are several shifts available through out December. If you are interested, see Mrs. DiGiulian for how to sign up.
  • Our Green is Key project is ever Friday after school. For twenty minutes or so, students go around the parking lot and tennis court areas picking up any trash. We are trying to clean up our school and improve our lives. See Mrs. DiGiulian to sign up for days to be apart of this.
  • On December 5th, Operation Teddy Bear is taking place at the Holly Grove Center in Salisbury. You will be helping the disabled, so if you are interested see Mrs. DiGiulian for more information.

  • If you have any left over UNICEF money, please turn that in. Right now we are at $242.95, and we are only $7.05 away from our goal.
  • The District Convention will be March 19th through the 21st, in Arlington, VA, if you are interested in attending.

Blood Drive

The first of the Key Club’s two blood drives for the year was held onĀ  Wednesday, November 4th. We worked very hard on recruiting parents, teachers, and students, mostly seniors, to register to give blood. On the of the blood drive, there were 100 filled slots with 53 people on a waiting list. Co-chairmen Bonnie Eisenman and Marcie Wiggins spent the day supervising the event. Many members participated in shifts through out the day as canteen workers and escorts. From this blood drive, we managed to donate 62 pints of blood to the Blood Bank of Delmarva. Please fill out any hero cards if you donate blood at another drive, and our next blood drive will be in March. See you then!

Pie in the Face

During Homecoming week, Key Club held a fundraiser, called Pie in the Face. Each class donated money in order to have the teachers representing them pied in the face at the Pep Rally. Freshman were represented by Mr. Hinkle and Mrs. Krummel; sophomores were represented by Mr. Magaha and Ms. Zimmer; juniors were represented by Mr. Krantz and Mrs. Lewis; seniors were represented by Mr. Ferro and Mrs. Wallace. The seniors won by raising the most money during that wee. Also students could buy raffle tickets in order to be the one to throw the pies. The winning student was Cameron Campbell, who got the throw pies at Mr. Ferro and Mrs. Wallace. Total collected for our club was $204.39.
